Torres del Paine

Z El Calafate (Argentyna) przeskoczylismy przed granice do Puerto Natales (Chile), bazy wypadowej na Torres del Paine (park narodowy, na terenie ktoreego znajduje sie legendarny "W Trek", podobno jeden z bardziej spektakularnych na swiecie)

"W trek" zwie sie tak a nie inaczej ze wzgledu na charakterystyczny kszatl trasy. We wszystkie zakatki W treku da sie dotrzec w 4 dni (3 noce kempingu).

My odwiedzilismy mniej wiecej polowe parku... Szczescie w nieszczesciu, kilka tygodni wczesnej 30-40%parku splonelo, park byl czesciowo zamkniety dla turystow. Dopiero kilka dni przed naszym przyjazdem otwarte zostaly pola kempingowe w centralnej czesci parku.

Przez pierwsze dwa dni miliesmy dobra pogode, wieze Torres del Paine nieprzesloniete chmurami daly sie fotografowac od rana do wieczora. Trzeciego dni pogoda sie kompletnie zalamala, tak dzikich wiatrow jeszcze w gorach nie doswiadczylem, podmuchy przewracaly co lzejszych turystow, zrywaly namioty... Dzika zawierucha napedzila chmur z deszczem i sniegiem, antarktyczne klimaty na calego.

W sumie nasza krotka wizyta w Patagonii sie udala, doswiadczylismy piekna skalnych olbrzymow, zostalismy przewiani artycznym podmuchem. Miescinka Puerto Natales rzeczywiscie przypominala miejscami koniec swiata, ze swymi drewnianymi rozklekotanymi chacinkami, lodowatymi podmuchami wiatru, stepowym pustkowiem gdzie by nie spojrzec.

Our next stop after El Calafate was Puerto Natales in Chile. We arrived there after five hours bus drive through Patagonian steps. The Chilean side looked more like ´´the end of the South American´´ continent (comparing to El Calafate). The town consisted of poor wooden houses, strong antarctic wind was blowing the roofs off, both the scenery and the weather was rough, something you´d expect so close to the Antarctica.

The reason we visited Puerto Natales was the fact that the town is a starting point for famous ´´W´´ trek in Torres del Paine National Park, arguably one of the most spectacular on the planet.

Unfortunatelly, some weeks earlier a big part of the park burned down in a huge fire caused by reckless camping. Lucky for us, by the time we arrived few camping grounds were reopened so that we could do at least some part of the famous trek.

Overall we camped for 3 nights and seen a big part of the park. Weather was pretty good for the first 2 days. The conditions deteriorated dramatically at the end of the 3rd day. I have never experienced such strong winds in my life, some of the tourists were literally blown down the ground, it was a challenge to put up a tent. Real near antarctic experience I must say!
